Case Study: Supporting Nervous System Balance During Bell’s Palsy Recovery

Client: Jon M. Huls
Date of Onset: December 4, 2025

On December 4,2025, Jon M. Huls experienced sudden facial paralysis later diagnosed as Bell’s Palsy. He went to the emergency room the same day and received a steroid injection to reduce inflammation as well as a brain scan before returning home.

By the following morning, his symptoms had intensified. One side of his face showed significant drooping and reduced function, which deeply impacted his emotional state and sense of stability. Seeking additional support during this acute phase, Jon came to Meta Ye Sound Wellness Center for nervous-system–focused sound therapy.

Initial Observation & First Session

During the first session, I guided Jon through deep relaxation sound therapy, with the intention of calming his nervous system and supporting the body’s natural restorative processes.

Throughout the session, I observed that his crown chakra singing bowl responded with unusually strong and irregular activation, suggesting heightened mental activity and nervous system overstimulation. Despite this, Jon reported moments of relief and grounding during the session.

Second Session: Deepening Rest

The following day, we repeated the deep relaxation sound therapy. This time, Jon was able to fall asleep during the sound session, indicating that his nervous system had begun shifting out of a high-alert state. However, subtle signs of overactive brainwave activity were still present, so the session was gently extended to approximately 60 minutes to allow deeper integration.

Third Phase: Four-Bowl Balancing Therapy

On the next visit, I adjusted the approach. First , I used 7 bowls to create a sound dome for him to enter deep relaxing state for nerves resetting and restoring. Then i used a four-bowl balancing therapy, designed to support brainwave neutrality and whole-system balance rather than deep sedation alone.

After this session, Jon reported noticeable improvements:

  • A clearer sensation in his head
  • Reduced feelings of “cloudiness” and mental pressure
  • A growing sense of internal balance and calm

In addition, his facial color appeared healthier and less pale, and he reported feeling more energetic immediately after the sound session.

Progressive Session Observations

  • Fourth Session: Jon was able to speak clearly without slurring and could close his eye normally.
  • Fifth Session: Facial sensation increased, while the paralysis decreased, and he was able to eat almost normally.
